Description de l'évenement

As dedicated therapists, we continually explore pathways to improve effectiveness - but what really works? This workshop answers that question with three viable pathways. Research makes it clear that the client is the heart and the relationship is the soul of therapeutic change. The first strategy focuses on client resources and ways to rally them. Second, with strategies to give the alliance the attention that research suggests it deserves, we can proactively build better relationships. Third - and more important than any other single thing we can do - we can systematically clients in all decisions that affect their care with feedback about the benefit of services and the quality of the alliance. The Partners for Change Outcome Management System (PCOMS) provides an early warning system that identifies clients who are not responding to therapy and helps to keep clients engaged while we collaboratively seek new directions. This one-day training provides practical strategies for harvesting client resources and building strong alliances as well as the pragmatics of PCOMS to enable you to start with your next client—to improve outcomes, track effectiveness, and form true partnerships with those we serve. Because of the research conducted by Duncan and colleagues at the Heart and Soul of Change Project, PCOMS is included in the US National Registry of Evidence-based Programs and Practices. PCOMS has been implemented across the US, Canada, including provincial implementation in Saskatchewan, and in 20 countries around the world.
Barry Duncan is a therapist, trainer, and researcher with over 17,000 hours of clinical experience. He is Director of the Heart and Soul of Change Project (heartandsoulofchange.com), CEO of Better Outcomes Now (betteroutcomesnow.com), and the developer of the clinical process of the Partners for Change Outcome Management System (pcoms.com), a SAMHSA designated evidence-based practice. Dr. Duncan has over one hundred publications, including 17 books, most recently, On Becoming a Better Therapist: Evidence Based Practice One Client at a Time. Because of his self-help books (the latest is What’s Right With You), he has appeared on "Oprah" and other national TV programs. Barry speaks directly to those who love this work and who strive to get better about achieving our aspirations to make a difference in the lives of those we serve.
