BC Borstal Association
BC Borstal Association is a charitable, non-profit organization that has been operating since 1948. Specializing in trauma and focused on Healing, BC Borstal Association offers accessible, low barrier counselling and support services to anyone whose life has been impacted by trauma. In addition to one-on-one and group support, we offer education, training and resources to clients, service providers, educators and the community.

Our team of highly skilled Clinical Counsellors are passionate about providing the best trauma-informed care to all of our clients. Trauma is closely linked with mental health, addiction, stigma, negative and criminal behaviours, as well as many other challenges. We understand that adverse life experiences can be traumatic, but such experiences do not need to derail one's natural development. We provide our clients with the support, care and understanding needed in order to heal.

Each of our Clinical Counsellors offers a unique set of skills and therapeutic approach, including Trauma-Informed practice, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Emotion-Focused Therapy, - Attachment theory, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Narrative therapy, Mindfulness and Grounding work, as well as Strength-based and anti-oppressive theories.

Research shows that traumatic exposure is an underlying factor in most mental health issues. We provide our clients with the support, care and understanding needed in order to manage and overcome challenges that result from trauma.
