Description de l'évenement

Discover how to effectively address Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) in couples therapy and enhance your practice with this workshop tailored for mental health professionals, including couples therapists.

ADHD’s heterogeneity often makes it challenging for therapists to identify and integrate appropriate treatment strategies — individuals diagnosed with ADHD can present with a wide range of symptoms and severity levels. Understanding this heterogeneity is crucial for effective treatment planning. In addition, misinformation abounds, leaving therapists uncertain about the efficacy of their interventions.

In this workshop, we delve into the under-recognized and under-diagnosed aspects of ADHD in adults globally. Gain insights into the heritability of ADHD, its impact on relationships, and its association with developmental and attachment trauma. Uncover the unique challenges faced by couples where ADHD is undiagnosed or unmanaged and learn why a neurodivergent-affirming approach is crucial for effective therapy.

Course Highlights:

*Identify Brain-Driven Behaviours: Explore the involuntary brain-driven behaviours that often challenge the couples therapeutic process.
*Integrate Relational Neurobiology: Learn how to seamlessly integrate relational neurobiology into your chosen couples therapy modality using the AECT Model of Practice: ADHD *Experiential Couples Therapy.
*Coordinate Care Confidently: Develop skills to coordinate care with other practitioners, fostering a comprehensive and supportive approach.
*Provide Hope Anchored in Science: Discover how to offer hope for the future, grounded in scientific understanding and healthy attachment principles.

Workshop Benefits:

*Renewed Confidence: Participants will gain renewed confidence in identifying and addressing the significant unmet need of ADHD dynamics within the couple and family therapy demographics.
*Articulate a Vision of Hope: Articulate a vision of hope for couples and families, informed by current science and the possibilities for positive change.

Additional Perks:
*Neurodivergent-Affirming and LGBTQ+-Affirming: Embrace an inclusive and affirming approach in your practice.
*Practical Resources: Access downloadable intake and case note templates, a comprehensive course workbook, handouts, and a curated resource list for further study.
*Continuing Education Credits: Earn 3 OAMHP CEC’s hours toward required continuing education requirements.
*Pathway to Certification: This workshop counts toward the upcoming DALD Canadian ADHD Certified Practitioner designation. Elevate your expertise and credibility in the field.
