OPA recently endorsed a set of guidelines on the diagnosis and assessment of LD that was produced by a Cross-Sectoral Working Group of psychologists from across Ontario, meeting over the past two years, with a view to standardizing the criteria for a diagnosis of LD, along with seeking consistency in the approach to assessment across work settings and age. Maggie was a member of this group, so has been party to the discussions, sticking points, controversies and efforts involved in reaching this consensus statement. She is a psychologist at Centrepointe Professional Services, has worked in the field of LD since 1979, is the author of Understanding Nonverbal Learning Disabilities: a Guide for Parents and Professionals, and is currently the Vice-Chair of the Learning Disabilities Association of Ottawa- Carleton.
