Troubles bipolaires
Des sautes d'humeurs sont normales. Toutefois, le trouble bipolaire apporte des changements d'humeur si sévères que cela cause des problèmes.
Dans le cas classique du trouble bipolaire
l'individu alterne entre des périodes d'énergie prononcées (et une humeur euphorique, heureuse ou irritable et a très peu besoin de sommeil) suivies de périodes de léthargie (accompagnées de symptômes de dépression). Plusieurs autres problèmes peuvent causer des sautes d'humeur et ressembler au trouble bipolaire. Certains problèmes médicaux peuvent sembler reliés au trouble bipolaire. Chez les enfants et les jeunes, il arrive souvent de voir des changements d'humeur associés à d'autres troubles, incluant les désordres reliés à l'humeur (tel la dépression ou l'anxiété), le trouble du déficit de l'attention (HDA/THADA, les problèmes d'apprentissage, le spectre de l'autisme et le traitement sensoriel ainsi que les problèmes d'auto-régulation.
Si vous soupçonnez un trouble bipolaire (chez vous-même ou un proche) la première chose à faire serait de voir votre médecin de famille afin d'écarter la possibilité d'un autre problème médical.
Votre médecin de famille peut aussi vous référer à d'autres services qui pourraient vous être utiles, tel qu'un psychologue, un psychiatre ou un travailleur social.
